Balta holds the first Local Developemnt Group meeting
The first meeting of the Local Development Group (LDG) was held in Balta, Odessa region, Ukraine, on 27 November.
LDG is a group of local experts, which brings together representatives of local governments (municipal and district councils), non-governmental organizations and activists. LDGs were created in 4 pilot project municipalities in Ukraine during Dialogues of Partners in September.
At the first meeting, the participants worked on the analysis of two problems existing in the city. These are high energy consumption in municipal institutions and stray animals. According to the First Deputy Mayor Eduard Rabinovich, these are the most discussed problems in the town, and therefore they require an urgent but durable solution.
While discussing these issues, LDG members identified target groups and beneficiaries of potential projects and formed the matrix of influence and interests. They then built a problem tree that showed causes and consequences of the existing negative phenomena. The moderator of the meeting, Taras Halavka, noted that the Local Development Group has worked very actively, and all participants demonstrated high interest in the result.
