The Local Development Group discusses the problems of tourism in the town
LGD – is a group of experts who united together during the Dialogue of Partners on purpose to work out development projects. LGD consists of representatives of local authorities (City Council and Municipality Administration), NGOs and activists.
On the meeting the LGD’s participants discussed different problems and made a deep analysis of poorly developed tourist sector.
Quoting the First Deputy of Chairman of the City Council AndreyYevstatov: “Tourism is a crucial component of local economy. Besides the construction of new resorts and pensions, it is also necessary to modernize the old ones.”The local experts came to the idea, that the main goal of Genichesk’s and ArabatskayaStrelka’s tourist sector development is to attract more than a million visitors during a season. The goal should be reached by developing well-planned long-term strategy.
The experts named few problems, which interfere the achievement of the goal:
– Absence of recreation and entertainment infrastructure
– Environmental problems (lots of mosquitoes, trains frequently pass through the town
– Low efficiency of advertising
