The Dialogue of Partners succeeds in Voznesensk
On 9 September 2014, in Voznesensk (Mykolaiv oblast, Ukraine) representatives of local NGOs, government and businesses met to discuss municipality problems and opportunities of intersectoral partnership.
The meeting was organized in the format of a Dialogue of Partners, which brought together heads of departments and units of the City Council, heads of communal services, representatives of NGOs, charity funds, leaders of public associations of condominiums. The discussion allowed to formulate the most pressing problems of the town:
- energy- and resource-intensive process of drinking water extraction, and therefore its high cost
- low efficiency of utilities in condominiums, and the need to adapt for a resource-saving regime
- almost complete absence of urban infrastructure for people with limited mobility
- lack of equipment for the full-scale separate waste collection
- poor condition of roads and pavements, lack of street drainage
- youth employment
- lack of places of leisure
The Secretary of the City Council Larysa Torzhinska highly praised the results of the meeting:
“The Dialogue of Partners has become an excellent communication platform to rethink the municipality problems, to discuss them with all stakeholders and to identify priorities for further development of the municipality. We hope that, as a result, a close-knit team of professionals will be formed and will help implement innovative projects aimed at developing our town”.
